First get acquainted with woodworking tools and wood as you learn about lay-out, joinery, and hand cutting joints through some simple practice exercises. These are fun little projects that are not precious and so don’t have to be perfect. They give you the chance to make your mistakes and learn from them. That’s how everyone learns in the shop.
Next you’ll learn how to cut the joints for this shelf using the router and hand tools. Discover how hand planing is so great for cleaning up a surface, and get assembly tips and techniques to glue up the shelf unit. Next comes the design options for decorating the sides with inlay. The options are endless but even simple geometric designs can make a piece really pop. Come and learn how using simple techniques using both power and hand tools. It’s great fun.
